Transfer of Rare Books from Marshall Library to Cambridge University Library's Rare Books Department

After consultation with the Faculty of Economics Board, the Marshall Library Committee and all academics at the Centre of Development Studies and the Faculty of Economics, more than 80 volumes, some of them published before 1800, were moved to the CUL's Rare Books Department. For a list...

Please consult the list of all items transferred in June 2015 (including the old Marshall Library classmark, and the new UL classmark) [Excel spreadsheet].

Criteria for selecting these books for transfer where (all, or one of the following):

  • fragile or very fragile items
  • collection security (pre-1800 volumes)
  • better, long-term preservation

This transfer follows up from a previous transfer (time unknown, but probably more than 20 years ago!), at which even older volumes were transferred to the better conditions at the University Library (also to the Rare Books Department): scan of the list of volumes transferred before
